Leadership race begins to replace Premier Ed Stelmach

They’ve been signing up members for months now, but all six Progressive Conservative party leadership candidates received their official nomination papers Friday.
The candidates now have until July 15th to get 500 signatures and pay $40,000 to the party to run.
President Bill Smith tells 660News after nomination deadline day, they will start holding forums across Alberta.
“Will have all the candidates that want to be there are welcome to be there and we got eight of them scheduled. I think we start July 21st and more or less until September 15th. “
With at least six candidates planning to run, Smith says it’s almost guaranteed a second ballot with the top three will be held a few weeks later on October 1st.
