City cycling plan given green light; needs bucks

The city committee has recommended a three-year cycling infrastructure plan, but they’re lacking the money to make it happen.
The goal of the Calgary Cycling Strategy is to get four per cent of people who work downtown to ride their bikes to work.
To do that, the city has to improve infrastructure by fixing faded bike lane markings, poor signage and a lack of traffic integration.
It’s expected to cost the city about $28-million, but they fall short by about $12-million.
Director of Transportation Planning Don Mulligan tells The Calgary Herald if they can’t find the money, they’ll pare down cycling improvement projects or take money from other infrastructure projects.
