Canada Post workers eager to get back to work

Members of Parliament have broken the record for non-stop debate on back-to-work legislation.
Talks were held overnight Thursday and into Friday, but postal workers remain locked out.
The Official Opposition called a “hoist motion” which would effectively put Bill C-6 on the back burner for another six months when it would then go into second reading.
This motion however likely won’t succeed because it has already significantly delayed the passing of the bill.
Legislation that would end the lock-out of thousands of postal workers remains tied in procedural knots in the commons.
Anna Beale is the president of the Calgary Local for the Canadian Union of Postal Workers and says they’re eager to get back to work but there’s just one problem.
” We are not on strike, we are being locked out and prevented from delivering the mail,” says Beale.
She says mounds of mail had piled up and she’s not sure how long it will take to deliver everything once the matter is finally resolved.
According to a Canada Post survey, 82 per cent of small businesses are now saying they’re concerned about getting paid as disruptions to mail delivery continue.
