Crash closes Stoney Trail for four hours

A serious collision in northwest Calgary on Tuesday afternoon has two women in hospital in life-threatening condition.

The two women in their 20’s were in a car that collided with an SUV at Nosehill Drive and Stoney Trail just before 1 p.m.

The car was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Nose Hill Drive, when the SUV driven by a man in his 40’s approached the intersection.

Both the car and the SUV rolled in the crash, closing Stoney Trail in both directions for over four hours.

Duty Inspector Chris Butler tells 660News, the driver of the SUV was uninjured.

He adds they believe speed and driver inattention may be factors in the crash.
