Fire crews battle grass fire in Fish Creek Park

Fire crews responded to a wildfire in Fish Creek Park just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
The wildfire broke out on Poplar Island located on the Bow River in Fish Creek Park in the southeast.
Battalion Chief Larry Fisher tells 660News, fire crews had to use the aquatic rescue boat to ferry crews and fire pumps to the island to battle the blaze.
He says strong wind in the area also hampered their efforts.
No injuries or damage to property have been reported and a cause is still not known.
Fisher adds, crews had to leave the fire at dusk on Tuesday, assuming it had been put out because fighting fires in remote areas in the dark is too dangerous.
He says they plan to return to the location in the morning.
