Parking Authority sending out cheques

It’s payback time for people who shelled out too much for their parking fines; the Calgary Parking Authority is sending out $15 cheques to people ticketed between May 12th and June 13th.

It’s to account for the dollar figure tacked onto fines to cover a new provincial service fee to dig up license information.

But as the complaints flowed in, the city repealed the bylaw that bumped up the fines.

The province has pushed back the date the new fee will apply to September 1st.

The Calgary Sun reports cheques will be out in the next week.
