Group trying to save Canmore bunnies

A group of activists in Canmore used Canada Day to boost support for the town’s wild bunnies.

The group, called ‘Save Canmore Bunnies,’ is trying to drum up names for a petition to battle a bunny cull slated for this summer.

The plan is to trap and euthanize the rabbits which the town says are causing property damage and raising safety issues by attracting predators into the community.

The group would rather see the bunnies trapped, sterilized and then sent to sanctuaries.

There are an estimated 2,000 rabbits running around Canmore although activists say it’s more like a thousand.
