Man killed after being hit by C-train

A 39-year-old man is dead, after he was struck by a C-train Sunday morning in the city’s northeast.

The incident happened just after 6 a.m. near the Rundle platform on 36th Street.

Acting inspector John Szczupack tells 660News, the man was walking across the tracks.

“There was no crosswalk where the pedestrian was crossing,” he says. “The tracks have concrete barriers on either side to prevent vehicles and pedestrians from crossing the track at that location.”

He says speed and alcohol were not a factor in the incident. Police are interviewing witnesses to figure out why the man was on the tracks.

C-train service in the area grinded to a halt for over two hours as police investigated.
