Murder trial for white supremacists begins

Two white supremacists, facing second degree murder charges in the death of a Calgary man, were in court, Monday morning.

Skinheads Robert Reitmeier and Tyler Sturrup are accused of the random killing of 47 year old Mark Mariani last October.

The appearance before Judge Wilkins took no more than five minutes.

Stirrup appeared via closed circuit television, while Reitmeier was in court.

After entering the room from the prisoner’s entrance, Reitmeiir smiled, waving at family and friends in the second row.

The Crown and defense teams have agreed on a latter date to review materials, and make special arrangements for their clients.

Both men are due back in court on July 25th.

Mariani was found dead — beaten to death by a group of men in an alley — last fall near the North Hill Shopping Centre on 16th Avenue in the northwest.
