Mayor Naheed Nenshi has been named Grand Marshall for the 2011 Pride Calgary Parade.
Nenshi was one of several politicians who marched in the parade last year, as a Mayoral candidate to succeed Dave Bronconnier.
According to the Herald, Nenshi had accepted the offer several months ago, but only recently confirmed his attendance.
But he won’t be the first of his council colleagues to be bestowed the honour. Alderman Diane Colley-Urquhart is a former marshall, herself.
The Pride Parade is Sunday September 4th.
