New rules ease backlog in Calgary courts

Electronic scheduling and specialized courtrooms seem to be helping ease the legal backlog in Calgary courts.
Calgary’s defence bar tells The Calgary Herald the measures brought in last February have cut the time it takes for cases get through the system.
An annual report by Alberta Justice suggests that before the measures were implemented, it took an average of 460 days between the first day a defendant sees a judge and their final court date.
