Casey Anthony found not guilty of first-degree murder

A Florida jury has found 25-year-old Florida woman, Casey Anthony, not guilty of first-degree murder.

The jury deliberated for just over 10 hours.

Anthony was accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in June of 2008.

The trial lasted six weeks and has been called the trial of the century in the United States.

The jury did find Casey Anthony guilty of four counts of providing false information to a police officer after telling police that her daughter had been kidnapped by a nanny that never existed.

Defence Attorney Jose Baez spoke to reporters after the verdict was read.

” I’m ecstatic for her and I want her to be able to grieve and grow and somehow get her life back together,” says Baez.

It should be noted that Anthony’s parents remained emotionless after the verdict was read.

The lawyer for Cindy and George Anthony, the parents of Casey, says they do not believe their daughter is innocent.

The 25-year-old will be sentenced on Thursday, for the four counts of providing false information to a police officer.

She could spend as much as four years in prison.
