User fees rise, including those for Parks Canada

Despite a promise from the Harper Government that user fees for things like fishing licenses and camping won’t go up, documents show they may.
In an effort to manage the deficit, as many as twelve government departments are proposing hikes next year, including Parks Canada.
That will impact the cost of entry into national parks, how much it costs to fish there, and the use of hot pools. Private business will also take a bigger hit to renew their licenses on park property.
A Parks Canada official tells The Globe and Mail, camping fees have been frozen since 2008, so they need to increase to reflect current inflation and cost of living.
The Parole Board of Canada will also raise fees, increasing the cost of a pardon to $631 from $150.
