Council backs cycling strategy

City council has agreed to usher in a cycling strategy that will make the roads safer for cyclists, but the challenge will be to find $12 million to implement it in the next three years.
The new plan will include new bike lanes in the core, better connections to transit hubs and more bike lockups.
Council will discuss how to dig up the cash to fund the upgrades during budget deliberations in November.
According to The Calgary Herald, city officials hope to double the number of cyclists commuting to the core by 2020.
