Charges laid in Saturday standoff

Calgary Police were called to a home in the city’s northeast after a neighbour reported hearing a gunshot early Saturday morning.

When police arrived at the home in the 900 block of Taradale Drive, the neighbour indicated she had seen a man and woman having an argument and she saw somebody fire, what she thought, was a handgun.

No one was hurt, but now charges have been laid against 28-year-old Mohammed Ahmed Yemiladem.

He is being charged with a weapon dangerous to the public, careless use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm and assault.

The investigation is continuing and additional firearms related charges are pending.
