Man in custody following firearms incident

Calgary Police responded to a gunshot complaint in the northeast just after 4 a.m. on Saturday.

When they arrived at the home in the 900 block of Taradale Drive, the neighbour said she had seen a man and woman having an argument and she saw somebody fire, what she thought, was a handgun.

One man was taken into custody, but the unit remained on scene until just after noon because information indicated there were still people in the house.

After failed attempts to negotiate, police employed tear gas and entered the home and found no one in the residence.

Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660News  there’s no indication of injuries, but their crime scene unit is investigating the shot fired that hit a home in the neighbourhood.

Detectives are still interviewing the man and fully expect he will be facing a number of criminal charges related to weapons offences.

Police recovered a firearm and are still trying to contact the woman involved.
