Big drop in criminal activity at Stampede Park

Calgary police report calls for service on the Stampede grounds are down by more than 32 per cent this year compared to last.
Staff Sergeant Joel Deans tells 660News, they are not getting as many lost kids, theft or drunken brawl calls.
Deans says Stampede organizers deserve a lot of credit for driving home the family entertainment message.
Police also believe perfectly timed storms and increased patron gate checks have helped reduce their work load.
For 10 days every July, Stampede park becomes Alberta’s third largest city, with crowds in excess of 100-thousand.
Police say the final weekend of Stampede is often the craziest but their ready for anything that might pop up.
