Stampede Olympic barrel racer

One of Canada’s most popular Olympians has traded in her racing helmet for cowboy hat this summer.
Melissa Hollingsworth has her heart set on winning gold in Sochi, Russia in 2014 but she’s added pro rodeo to her resume now as well.
Hollingsworth only got her pro card three months ago and already has raced in 12 rodeos.
A ranch racer from Eckville has always been close to the sport but never this close.
“It’s something I’ve done my entire life is to ride but when you’re trying to ride with the best in the world and keep up, im learning very, very quickly lets say.”
Hollingsworth isn’t racing at the Stampede, not yet anyway but, she has been right in the middle of the action doing TV interviews with cowboys and cowgirls.
She’ll get back on the circuit in the next few weeks but come the fall, she’s all about Skeleton and chasing gold in Sochi, Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
