Busy weekend in the city

This is one of the busiest weekends of the year in Calgary, with thousands and thousands of people gearing up to get out and enjoy summer in the city at a number of venues.
13,000 music lovers will take over Prince’s Island Park this weekend for the Calgary Folk Music Festival with big name headliners: KD Lang Saturday night and Sunday, Blue Rodeo caps the four day music fest.
Saturday night, the Battle of Alberta returns to McMahon Stadium as the dreaded Eskimos meet the Stampeders for a 5:00 p.m. kick-off. More than 30,000 expected to turn out, and the Stamps are asking everyone to bring a foodbank donation for it’s annual ‘Be a Fan, Bring a Can’ Event.
Sunday, a big draw to the Kensington District for the 18th Annual Sun ‘n’ Salsa Festival, which drew 100,000 people to the neighbourhood last year. There’s live music, dancing, street vendors and of course more than 40 different kinds of salsa to sample. The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is one of this years big benefactors and the event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The forecast calls for better weather over the weekend, and that’s good news, as more than a hundred thousand people have big plans to get outdoors for some summer fun in the city.
