Parishioners fight to save churches

A group of Lethbridge parishioners are doing more than just praying to save their churches.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary wants to shut down three buildings, and replace them with one mega-church.

But the Save Our Churches Association is hoping to halt those plans; it has 400 paying members and more than 700 signatures on a petition.

According to The Calgary Herald, the three churches scheduled to be closed are Our Lady Assumption, St. Basil’s and the 98-year-old St. Patrick’s.
