Search in progress for drowning victim

The Mounties and Grande Prairie search and rescue crews continue to look for the body of a 14 year boy who drowned in Red Willow Falls Sunday night.

Just before 9pm, a group of teens was swimming at the falls when the boy was pulled under by a strong current.

“Police were called to the scene, along with the fire department, and the search was initiated,” an RCMP Constable tells 660News. “However efforts were suspended due to darkness.”

“The search has expanded to include an aerial search of the river and we will release further information when that is available,” adds the Constable.

The Red Willow Falls are located near the B.C. border about 60 kilometres west of Grande Prairie.
