Vote postponed on U.S. debt crisis

It was originally expected to happen early Sunday morning, but Senate majority leader Harry Reid has postponed a cloture, or test-vote, on his debt plan until 1:00pm Sunday afternoon.

When it was announced that the vote was originally going to take place at 1:00am Sunday morning, Alaska Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski spoke out, calling the idea absurd.

U.S. President Barack Obama is seeking an agreement to raise the government’s $14.3-dollar debt limit by enough to tide the treasury over until after the 2012 elections.
