Muslims prepare for Ramadaan

Muslims around the world will observe a fast from dawn to dusk for 30 days as an act of faith.

Fasting is compulsory for adult men and women who are able to fast and is one of the five pillars of Islam.

It’s a month of worship and spirituality as well as a time where Muslims reach out to the less fortunate and offer charity.

In Calgary the Al Madina Calgary Islamic Centre, on 5700 Falsbridge Drive northeast, will offer free “Iftar” dinner daily for all Muslims and non Muslims.

Also in the northeast, the Akram Jomaa Masjid hosted a grand reopening on Saturday of their new prayer hall facility that can hold 3-4 thousand people.
