A contract worker who was hit by a piece of equipment at a Suncor site north of Fort McMurray, has died of his injuries.
The 55-year-old, employed by Flint Transfield services, was working on a well pad on Suncor’s firebag site, yesterday afternoon, when equipment struck him in the chest.
He was rushed to hospital, where he died Monday morning.
A stop-work order has been issued for the well pad while occupational health and safety officers investigate.
All non-essential maintenance work at the site has been suspended.
