Distracted driving law almost here

A month from now, Albertans won’t be able to use cell phones or other electronic devices behind the wheel.
On September 1st, police will have orders to ticket any distracted drivers, whether they’re texting, reading, talking on cellphones or using other devices behind the wheel.
Anyone violating the legislation will be hit with a $172 dollar ticket.
The province is heading a large education campaign, with $300,000 going towards print and online ads.
Retailers say there have been lots of customer inquiries about hands-free devices, but a show in sales has yet to happen.
