Hellard Field turning into a hell for soccer and football players

The much anticipated, new artificial turf fields at Shouldice Park two years ago are becoming a major disappointment.
Major as in the turf is sinking and heaving making it the bane of soccer and football players and coaches.
According to the Calgary Herald, many groups are re-scheduling games to grass fields for fear of injuries.
One men’s league soccer player says he’s heard his teammates grumble about ankle injuries, not to mention balls taking odd bounces thanks to the heaves in the field.
The three fields opened in October of 2009 and cost $9.5 million, $7 million of which was covered by the three levels of government.
The three surfaces, known as Hellard Field, are still under warranty but a City spokesperson declined to comment on the warranty, or if the city will be stuck with the bill for repairs.
