The victim of the bizarre accident during Friday night’s storm in Calgary’s northwest is being identified by friends as 60-year-old Richard Yeoman.
The Calgary man died after being swept off his feet by rushing floodwater and trapped beneath the surface under his car.
One witness tells the Calgary Sun, the water was so strong it was like a river, like rapids.
Friends remember Yeoman as a quiet, friendly and funny guy who was a musician and worked as a coffee delivery man.
Yeoman has a son and daughter living in the area but the family is not ready to talk about what happened.
