Novel idea to slow down speeding drivers

Kids in Southwood were painting the town on Saturday — or at least the neighbourhood.
They were decorating the street, specifically an intersection off Elbow Drive at Sackville Drive Southwest, with graffiti. Interestingly, it was all under the watchful eye of police, parents and Alderman Brian Pincott.
The novel idea is meant to slow down drivers in a neighbourhood that includes a school, pre-school and day care.
A Southwood Community Association member tells the Calgary Herald when drivers see the artwork — in an area notorious for speeding complaints — hopefully the creations will get them to slow down and be more conscious of where they are.
It’s the 12th Paint The Pavement event in Calgary, an idea that Alderman Pincott first learned about after reading about a similiar idea in Minneapolis.
