Poll shows more Albertans carrying debt

A new Harris-Decima poll for CIBC shows while 77 per cent of Albertans have debt, most feel they’re making good progress on paying it down.
The survey also reveals most in the province take a “do-it-yourself” approach to managing debt, with only 21 per cent consulting an advisor to come up with a strategy to pay it down.
Across the country, about 72 per cent of Canadians say they’re holding some form of debt.
Of those debt holders, four in 10 say their current debt level is an obstacle to reaching future financial goals.
