Alberta Health Services has begun a recruitment campaign to attract volunteers for its 12 health advisory councils.
AHS spokesperson Lynn Redford tells 660News each advisory council is made up of 10 to 15 volunteers.
“Interested members of the community have an opportunity to submit their names, if they’ve got an interest in health care from a very general sense, and would like to help us advise Alberta Health Services on some of our programming and services throughout the year,” Redford tells 660News.
Redford adds all applicants will be interviewed.
“We’re just looking for strong community members who have a committment to work on this council and a bit of an understanding of the health care system and an interest in being involved,” says Redford. “At that point, we’ll select members who represent diversity with different interests, different demographic representation as well to balance out the councils.”
Each board meets about six times a year and will advise AHS on matters about health service, provide feedback and suggest areas for improvement and help the community better communicate what’s being said about healthcare in their area.
The deadline to sign up is September 2nd.
