RCMP hope to draw interest through youth camp

The RCMP is launching its first ever youth camp, to give teens a taste of life on the force.

Sixteen high school students from across the province were specially selected for the week-long camp.

Constable Krista Woods tells 660News, the students who were chosen based on academic performance and enthusiasm, will be doing the same things real officers do to train for the job.

That means they’ll take part shooting and driving simulations, some classroom activities and all kinds of police drills.

Constable Woods says after the camp, she’ll reach out to the students to help if they want to join the force.
