Mountain rescue leaves its mark

Two climbers rescued from atop a mountain in Yoho National Park on Sunday are safe and sound but also a part of history.

A spokesman for Parks Canada tells the Herald it’s the highest helicopter rescue on record ever accomplished in Banff, Yoho or Kootenay National Parks.

The climbers in their 40s were rescued from the 3600 metre high peak on the south summit of Mount Goodsir early Sunday morning after being stranded when they were unable to find a safe route down.
