The state of Alberta’s economy isn’t as rosy as we’re being told, according to a new report out by a leading Canadian think tank.
The Fraser Institute looked at nine consecutive budget deficits running between 1985 and 1994, and says the current government is using the same reassurances as others in the past.
Report author Mark Milke says it’s highly unlikely the province will be able to get out of debt by 2014 like its leaders are saying.
To the contrary, he says the government will get deeper into debt because they refuse to learn from mistakes of past governments.
