Thousands of dollars donated to save a dog

A number of Calgarians are showing their generosity for a family of four in our city by donating thousands of dollars for their injured dog “Rocks”.

The part greyhound suffered a broken leg after a hit and run last Thursday and was rushed to the Calgary North Veterinary Hospital.

Soon after the incident, Jay Nunn along with his wife Felisha Bright learned the surgery would cost around $5000.

The family exhausted a number of options until the family was approached by people wanting to help promote a donation drive for the surgery.

Nunn tells 660News he can’t believe over $5000 has been raised so far.

“There’s been so many good people to help us out with the donations and support and everything, the e-mails keep coming in. Were so surprised at how many big hearted Calgarians there are out there,” Nunn says.

Rocks will have the surgery Wednesday morning.

Nunn says if there’s any money left over from the surgery, they would like to see the money used for a family in a similar situation.
