Sentencing arguments were held on Wednesday for notorious sex offender Eric Wanamaker.
Wanamaker was convicted in May of accessing and possessing child pornography for the 2nd time.
The Crown is seeking a shorter sentence in a provincial institution with three years of probation, while the defence wants a longer sentence in a federal prison.
The Crown feels it’s best Wanamaker have some form of supervision in order to protect the public.
The defence believes federal prison will give him access to much needed treatment.
Wanamaker has already spent 11 years in prison for sexual offences against children and was released in 2004 when police warned he was at a high risk to re-offend.
In court today, Wanamaker told the judge he should be locked up for life, exclaiming “what I did was wrong so shoot me.”
Sentencing is set for September 6th.
