A first may be in the works for Sunday, by hitting 30 degrees, it would make it the first 30 degree day this summer.
City TV Meteorologist Andrew Schultz says
“It’s the first time we would be 30 degrees in 2011. It happens in Calgary but not that often, last year we did it a handful of times. It has been very elusive so far this year.”
He adds, “Late August has traditionally been very good for Calgary. The chance for another 30 degree day this week looks pretty good.”
Schultz says he see’s a warming trend, “The trend over the past 3-5 years has been a warmer move into September.”
660News asked Calgarians what they thought of the hot weather and at least one family wasn’t going to let the day pass them by.
Mom Chantal says with the way recent years have gone, she’s happy with the high temperatures, “The last three summers have been pretty terrible, we’ve had to actually go visit summer instead of summer coming here.”
“We went to Vegas, Kelowna, all that stuff, it sucks but it’s not surprising” she adds.
Dad Conrad says he was aware the first 30-degree day could be possible and he wasn’t going to let it slip away.
“I think we better make the best of it because there’s isn’t very many more to come and winter is just around the corner. so let’s make the best of today,” he said.
Their little boy Brady also had a plan of how he wanted to spend the day.
