Wildfires still threaten the province

Southern Alberta could see a rash of wildfires in the coming weeks.

Rob Harris with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development tells 660News as more people make their way to the back country, the number of fires increase.

He says the province could see a lot more campfire related blazes over the next month, especially around the long weekend.

Harris says the Calgary area, along with the rest of southern Alberta, could see an extreme wildfire danger if the hot, dry and windy weather continues.

There have been fewer blazes this year, but the amount of land burned this summer is equal to twelve fire seasons combined.
