Doing your make-up, talking on your cell phone or texting while driving will soon be things of the past in Alberta and tough talk from the Calgary police about no warning after September 1st may no longer be the case.
Calgary police are pleading with the public to use the common sense approach after September 1st.
Traffic Staff Sgt. Michael Waterston says verbal warnings will be at the discretion of each individual officer.
“We do see incidences where a motorist is hazardous on the roadway then the officers will stop that motorist and if it’s a warning that’s warranted then that’s what will be given,” says Waterson.
He adds he has seen everything from the normal to the obscure on Calgary road ways.
Those caught on the extreme end of the distracted driving scale could face a $172 fine.
