Noisy vehicle bylaw being tested

The city is holding off on issuing tickets for loud vehicles until later this year, as they continue testing the equipment used in the noise enforcement pilot project.
Bylaw boss Bill Bruce tells The Calgary Sun they can’t issue tickets until they’ve reported to council about how they’ll be nabbing drivers of loud vehicles, and those methods are approved.
Council passed a motion in June to get testing for the Noise Snare underway.
The device records the noise level and license plate of vehicles exceeding 96 decibels.
No fine amount has been set.
