WHL player pleads guilty to dangerous driving

A junior hockey player has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death for a crash that killed an 18-year-old woman earlier this year.

The youth admitted through his lawyer on Tuesday that he was driving more than double the speed limit when he lost control of the vehicle.

Charges of impaired driving causing death and driving over the legal blood alcohol limit were dropped after the youth’s guilty plea.

Sentencing arguments in the case are set for November.

He cannot be identified under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
