Clock ticks down to 2011 Parkinson SuperWalk

Those planning to get involved in the year’s biggest fundraiser for Parkinson’s disease only have a few weeks left.
The 16th annual Parkinson SuperWalk will be held the second weekend in September.
John Petryshen with the Parkinson Alberta Society tells 660News,
they need all the help they can get to help fight a disease that affects thousands of Albertans.
“Parkinson’s is a brain disease. It doesn’t discriminate. One in 300 adults may be diagnosed with Parkinson’s. What we’re finding, too, is that we’re starting to work with people in their 30’s and 40’s and it certainly has a different impact on them,” says Petryshen.
He says last year they raised just over $330-thousand and this year, the drive is to get to the $350-thousand mark.
The Parkinson SuperWalk is scheduled for Saturday, September 10th at North Glenmore Park in Calgary. The Cochrane event will be held at Cochrane Ranche September 11th.
The walk will be held in 90 communities across the country. The other Alberta locations taking part are Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Grande Prairie.
