Alberta’s distracted driving law kicks in

You’d better keep both hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road as everyone gets back to work and school.
The province’s distracted driving law is now in effect, making it illegal to talk and drive with a handheld device.
Fines of $172 will be issued to people who are caught talking on handheld devices, playing with other electronics, eating or grooming while behind the wheel.
Since Ontario’s introduction of distracted driving laws in early 2010, police in that province have issued almost 85,000 tickets; police in British Columbia have written more than 38,000 tickets.
