Banff looks to boost tourism

Business owners in Banff National Park say the town risks losing its appeal to tourists unless it’s modernized.

Banff stakeholders released a 31 page Competitive Initiative Report points to the high regulatory costs of being in a national park and narrow profit margins.

President of Banff Lake Louise Tourism Julie Canning tells The Calgary Sun, Banff needs to use social media to promote the park to youth, and to upgrade hiking and biking trails.

Another suggestion is to enhance Banff’s winter season with activities and events, like a winter carnival spread over several weekends.
