Northern work camps are featuring better food options and cappuccino machines on every floor at Calgary energy companies.
Those are just a couple of the perks local oil and gas firms are offering employees to try and battle a labour crunch.
But it isn’t working, so the province is getting on board with trips to some key cities in Texas and Illinois trying to convince workers to come here.
Employment and Immigration Thomas Lukaszuk tells The Calgary Herald, they’d like to hire all Canadian workers, but in reality, many tradespeople from eastern Canada won’t make the move west, so the next logical option is the United States.
