It’s live aid — for drivers

The Calgary Parking Authority is expanding its Parkaid program which to this point has been available only to customers parked at parkades.

Acting General Manager Troy McLeod tells 660News customers who return to their vehicles only to discover a flat tire or a dead battery can now call and get almost immediate help.

“We have a fleet of vehicles that are equipped to be able to provide a boosting service and tire inflation,” he says. “So we just wanted to expand that for all our customers. So now it’s on-street at Park Plus zones within any Park Plus area in Calgary.”

But what about those really busy times of the year when -30 temperatures leave vehicle batteries stone cold?

“If we don’t have a vehicle in place, we’ll certainly have one of our staff there,” adds McLeod who says customers shouldn’t have to wait long for service.  “We have a contractor with City Wide, so if we do end up having more than we can as far as volumes, our back-up is with City Wide to give us assistance. Getting into winter months, vehicles can act in a way that you don’t want.  So we just want to be there if people need us.” ”

The complimentary battery boost and tire inflation service is available 24/7.
