Winsport Canada Cup comes to COP

Canada Olympic Park will be packed this weekend, as the facility plays host to the Winsport Canada Cup.
The event will see a group of bold adrenaline junkies surging downhill in a series of races featuring so-called ‘gravity sports’.
Spokesperson Chad Hason explains the events.
“What you’re going to see is, they all ride a board in some way from the top of the hill to the bottom of the hill,” he says, “some are doing long-boarding which is a stand-up. We also have street luge and classic luge, the difference being they actually lay on their back, much like classic winter luge, and come down the hill that way.”
The Canada Cup is one of nine international events on a world circuit and the winner this weekend will cash in on a $12-thousand prize.
Anyone attending the free event can also check out the two beer gardens with DJs and live bands.
