RCMP release long weekend driving offence numbers

Police have released Labour Day weekend driving offence numbers that show the majority of people are complying with the new distracted drivers law.
However, dozens are still failing to get the message about the dangers of drinking and driving.
In total, 133 people were charged with alcohol related offences including 46 impaired driving charges.
Just 29 people were charged under the new distracted drivers law.
There were 160 seatbelt or child restraint infractions and 2,834 speeding violations.
The highest speed clocked over the Labour Day long weekend was 212 km/h near Ponoka.
The offences were committed between September 2nd and September 5th.
