Watchdog group hopes CBE will be more open

The Calgary Board of Education needs to be more transparent!
That’s what members of the Association for Responsive Trusteeship in Calgary Schools or “ARTICS” have to say after reviewing the minutes of CBE board meeting for the 2010-2011 school year.
The Association says the detailed report shows CBE trustees met for a total of 26 hours and 55 minutes in public and a little over 22 hours in private meetings.
ARTICS says this means the bulk of the board’s work is done behind closed doors in “on camera” meetings and that has to change.
