Muslims Against Terrorism will mark 9/11 with a memorial service in the provincial capital.
The Calgary-based organization was founded in 1998, by Prof. Imam Syed Soharwardy.
Soharwardy tells 660News that Sunday’s ceremony in Edmonton will honour the victims of the terror attacks and educate people about the dangers of extremism and terrorism.
He says the message of Islam is one of respect, tolerance and acceptance for other faiths.
The service will be held at Edmonton’s Lakewood Community Hall at 4:00 p.m.
In 2008, Soharwardy walked from Halifax to Victoria and led a multi-faith walk against violence.
