Pain and suffering charges recommended in sled dog case

WHISTLER (NEWS1130) – Charges are now recommended against Bob Fawcett, the man accused of killing dozens of sled dogs in Whistler.
After an investigation that lasted several months, the BC SPCA is recommending causing pain and unnecessary suffering to animals charges against Fawcett.
Animal cruelty investigator Marcie Moriarty says there are thousands of pages of evidence the Crown will have to go over before charges are actually laid.
“Involved very complex forensic science,” She says. “We’re used to dealing with live animals in distress and this case dealt with deceased animals.”
WorkSafeBC estimates more than 100 dogs were killed, but the BC SPCA’s investigation only found 56.
If convicted, Bob Fawcett could get a $10,000 fine, jail time, or both.
